I found yoga in 2007 after the birth of my daughter. I had gained over 40 lbs. during my pregnancy, and tried everything to lose the weight. Nothing seemed to work. It wasn’t until I started practicing yoga that the pounds began to melt off my body. What started as an intense physical workout, eventually evolved into something so much deeper.
A teacher once told me that yoga is about strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility. She said, “Whatever you struggle with in life, you will also struggle with on the mat”. Those words truly resonated with me. Here I was, a new mother with a corporate career that had me traveling 4 days a week. I was competitive. I was strong and flexible. I could remain in a warrior pose for as long as necessary, but ask me to stand on one foot? Forget about it. I had no balance in my life or on my mat. It was during that realization that I decided to make yoga an integral part of my life.
Yoga helps me to focus on how my body and life are showing up at any given moment, and it’s different every day. Trust me when I say, whatever it is you are looking for, yoga will help you find it.
